But seriously..
One thing I’m learning is this: when you are called and chosen by God, you should expect resistance. the enemy doesn’t sit back and applaud your purpose, he opposes it. he looks for opportunities to distract you, discourage you, deceive you, and if he can’t stop what God is doing, he’ll try to infiltrate it. he’ll do whatever he can to keep you from becoming who God created you to be.
Why?
Because if you ever truly discover your identity in Christ, you’ll begin to walk in your calling with confidence. And that’s dangerous to the kingdom of darkness.
It reminds me of The Lion King.
Simba was born a king, yet he spent years living like anything but one.
He became disconnected from his identity.
And because he didn’t know who he was, he couldn’t live like who he was.
Think about it.
How can you walk like a king if you don’t know you’re a king?
Instead of ruling, Simba settled.
He surrounded himself with what he was created to have authority over. He talked like them, lived like them, and accepted a life far beneath what he had been born for.
While Simba was hiding from his identity, the Pride Lands were suffering.
Darkness wasn’t ruling because it was stronger.
Darkness was ruling because the rightful king wasn’t in his place..
How many of us are living the same way?
We’ve allowed fear, shame, disappointment, trauma, comparison, or the lies of the enemy to convince us we’re ordinary when God says we’re chosen.
We’ve settled for survival when we were created to lead.
We’ve become comfortable living beneath our calling because we’ve forgotten whose we are.
The enemy doesn’t need you to stop believing in God.
If he can keep you confused about your identity, that’s often enough because people who don’t know who they won’t live like who they were created to be.
But everything changed for Simba when he remembered..
Not when he got stronger..
Not when life got easier..
Not when his circumstances changed..
Everything changed when he remembered who he was.
The same is true for us.
The moment you remember that you are a son or daughter of the King, chosen, loved, redeemed, and called with purpose, you stop living beneath your identity and start walking in the authority God has already given you.
As for me… whew. This journey has definitely been one for the books! I know my story is going to be in the next Bible. 😂
One thing I’ve noticed is that the enemy constantly fights me in the very areas God has anointed me in. I’ve struggled with my identity while God called me to help others find theirs.
And maybe that’s the point..
The enemy doesn’t waste his time attacking what isn’t a threat. If he’s fighting you so hard over your identity, maybe it’s because he knows what happens when you finally believe what God has been saying about you all along.
So don’t let the battle make you forget who you are.
Like Simba, it’s time to remember.
Because the moment you remember who you are in Christ, everything changes.
